Hydrasoft™ Trifold Blind Rivet

Hydrasoft™ Trifold Blind Rivet

Hydrasoft™ is an aluminium trifold blind rivet designed for fastening soft, brittle, or low-strength materials such as plastic, composite and fibreglass . During installation, its split-tail rivet body folds into three petal-like sections on the blind side, creating a wide bearing surface that helps distribute the clamping load across the application material.

This tri-fold formation helps reduce the risk of pull-through and makes Hydrasoft™ suitable for fastening applications where a larger blind-side bearing area is required.

Designed for applications where conventional blind rivets may create concentrated loads on delicate substrates, Hydrasoft provides reliable fastening for thin, brittle, lightweight and low-strength materials. Its wide grip capability and aluminium alloy construction make it suitable for a range of lightweight assemblies across automotive, furniture, appliances, composite and industrial applications.

The large blind-side bearing area created by the trifold expansion helps distribute the fastening load across the rear material, making Hydrasoft suitable for applications involving delicate or low-strength substrates.

Hydrasoft trifold blind rivets are suitable for lightweight assemblies where soft, brittle or low-strength materials require secure fastening with a broad blind-side bearing area.

Automotive Industry

Used for fastening Ac Airduct Assembly, Fender, dashboards, plastic interior panels, trims and other lightweight vehicle components.

Furniture Manufacturing

Suitable for plywood furniture assemblies and wood-based structures where fastening soft materials requires controlled load distribution.

Domestic Appliances

Used in plastic housings, appliance panels and lightweight components where protection of the base material is important.

Composite Material Assemblies

Suitable for fibreglass and composite panels where a larger blind-side bearing area can help distribute fastening loads.

Industrial Fabrication

Used in thin-sheet structures, lightweight enclosures and other industrial assemblies involving soft or low-strength materials.

A Hydrasoft fastener is a blind rivet designed for joining soft, brittle, or lightweight materials such as plastics, composites, and thin laminated sheets.

The rivet features a split tail formation, which expands during installation to create a large blind-side bearing area against the rear sheet, similar to the working principle of a trifold rivet.

Unlike conventional rivets, Hydrasoft ensure:

 - Secure fastening for soft materials
 - Large blind-side load distribution
 - Reduced risk of material cracking

This design distributes clamping force evenly and prevents damage to fragile materials, making it a reliable trifold rivet alternative for sensitive applications.

An Aluminium Tri-fold Blind Rivet is a blind fastening solution designed to form three folded legs on the blind side during installation. This creates a large blind-side bearing area, helping distribute the fastening load across the application material and providing secure fastening in suitable thin, soft or low-strength materials.

Yes. Tri-fold blind rivets are particularly suitable for plastic, composite, fibreglass and other relatively soft or brittle materials. Their three-fold expansion creates a larger contact area on the blind side, helping distribute the load and reduce the risk of pull-through or material damage.

Aluminium Tri-fold Blind Rivets can be used for compatible sheet metal, aluminium panels, plastics, composites, fibreglass, wood-based materials and other low-strength substrates, depending on the joint design, material combination, hole size and required grip range.

Tri-fold blind rivets provide a large blind-side bearing area and improved load distribution, making them suitable for fastening thin, soft, brittle and low-strength materials.

Key advantages include:
Large blind-side bearing area
Improved load distribution
Reduced risk of pull-through in suitable soft materials
Suitable for thin and lightweight assemblies
Wide grip capability, depending on the specific rivet
Suitable for plastic, composite and fibreglass applications

A conventional blind rivet generally forms a single expanded blind-side head, whereas a tri-fold blind rivet forms three distinct folded sections. This creates a larger blind-side bearing area, making the tri-fold design particularly suitable for fastening thin, soft, brittle or low-strength materials.

A tri-fold blind rivet is particularly useful when fastening thin, soft, brittle, lightweight or easily damaged materials where a larger blind-side bearing area can help distribute the fastening load and reduce the risk of pull-through.
The selection should also consider the material combination, grip range, hole diameter, joint requirements and installation tool compatibility.

Tri-fold blind rivets can be installed using a compatible blind rivet installation tool, provided the tool has the appropriate nosepiece, pulling capacity, and specifications for the selected rivet size.
For Hydrasoft applications, compatible installation equipment includes the A3000-02000 Hydro-Pneumatic Riveting Tool, Rivdom eBZ 2 Battery-Operated Riveting Tool and Rivdom eBZ 3 Battery-Operated Riveting Tool, subject to the applicable tool and fastener specifications.

Hydrasoft is Avlock's trifold blind rivet solution for fastening plastic, composite and other soft or low-strength materials. Similar tri-fold or load-spreading blind rivet designs are available in the market under different product names and brands, including Bulbex® , BulbTite®, Tri-Bulb®, TriFix™, Tri-Bulb®, and other manufacturer-specific product ranges.
When selecting a trifold blind rivet, the appropriate solution should be evaluated based on material combination, rivet diameter, grip range, head style, hole condition, required joint performance and installation tool compatibility.
